Breast Cancer And Weight Gain

Generally, it is the women who suffer from such diseases and the ways can get pretty tough due to their physical structure which does not allow for sustaining high amounts of pain or suffering. A treatment is possible, yes, but along comes with it a lot of side effects. Unlike the normal medicines that are consumed, the side effects here may be drastic. One such side effect is an increase in body weight or weight gain as many would call it. Whether a woman may actually gain weight to a certain extent depends on whether she has attained menopause. A woman, who has is less likely to gain weight while a woman who has not are known to have a tendency to do so (this is subject to getting radiations or chemotherapy as a treatment procedure).

The scientists found this all very peculiar and studies were conducted on them. The results were the same. Females above 5 years showed almost no signs of weight gain compared to their counterparts. However, the debate on what are the reasons is still on. While some say that it is because chemotherapy induces premature menopause hence leading to weight gain, while the others say it has to do with the metabolism. According to them, these radiations are harmful and kill even the good cells drastically jeopardizing the body stability. Unfortunately, this gain comes at a very fast pace and undertaking an exercise regime does not help any.

Some women have the phobia of gaining weight and cannot image themselves to be fat. Along with them, those who are working in industries which require glamour, like entertainment or fashion have a hard time. The first category of these start to take extra medications as a safe keep against depression while the second may have to look for an alternate job. Thus, one may say that cancer may definitely impact their living standards and the position in the society.

While talking about living standards, once a woman has been diagnosed with breast cancer, they would have to bring a change automatically. For the treatment to be effective, hygienic practices need to be adopted along with a change in the eating habits. Nutritious and items rich in contents should be consumed so that the body gets all the required resources to fight these damaging cells. Along with this, regular exercises would keep the body fit and increase the metabolism rate. Lethargic or less active women have been known to be more susceptible to weight gains than those who are regulars at it (most of the athletes are still able to perform with the same levels before and after they have been diagnosed with this disease).

It is true that one may get a feeling of irritation and frustration while undertaking treatment for breast cancer. Life becomes a routine and one may not feel at ease. Unfortunately, there is no running away from it if a cent percent cure is what is required.
